Do We Have Our New Freddy Krueger?

Jackie Earle Haley who played Rorschach in the recently released Watchman movie is currently in final negotiations to dawn the red and green sweater as everyone's favorite dream stalker Freddy Kreuger. Personally I think that the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise is going to be the toughest horror movie to be remade simply because Robert Englund was Freddy....

Follow up:

All of Englund's features and mannerisms made up what we call Freddy Krueger. But if this film had to be made I don't think Haley is a bad choice. I enjoyed his portrayal of Rorschach and hopefully with a good script (fingers crossed) it will turn out to be an entertaining movie. Time will tell. Nightmare on Elm Street is set to hit theaters April 16, 2010. Filming begins at the end of this month. So what do you guys think????

Here is my take on this. Englund is Freddy but Jackie Earle Haley wouldn't be a bad choice. I just see the guys as being around the same age so why the change?

Not a bad choice. Hopefully he can pull it off. It's just hard to see anyone other than Robert Englund playing the part. Can't wait to see the movie!

I agree with you guys that the movie is going to be tough as hell to remake. But hopefully they wont F it up too bad. Guess will find out next year.

I hate remakes and this is going to suck no matter who plays Freddy. Robert Englund is Freddy, why not just have him back?

I mean whatever, I guess if they are going to ruin it they might as well have this lad play the role. I would rather see Dracula Dead and Locing it being remade than Nightmare on Elm Street. Has America ran out of good horror ideas>

I think it's a wonderful choice-- Haley has a great look and is a great actor. Yeah, Englund is Freddy and Englund is a lot older than Haley, BTW.

it all comes down to the special effects and makeup. is he going to look just like the old freddy? i wouldn't think so, so a new fresh face may work well. it won't be the same but i am all about change. go obama!

Saw the remake, Jackie Earl Haley was great as Freddy. Overall good movie.
