The Cryptkeeper - Step by Step Painting Techniques
"Hello boils and ghouls" this is everyone's favorite wise cracking corpse painted step by step by our very own Lee Lambert. All you fledgling artists out there take note. Lee is no master mask and prop painter but you can't tell by these photos....
Follow up:
He is a mild manured lawyer by day and insane horror collector by night. Lee usually finds himself buying masks and props but he tried his hands at painting and finishing work his self and we are more than impressed. Lee may have not had years of training but you wouldn't be able to tell it by the photos below.
Here it is, The Cryptkeeper in all his glory hand painted step by step for your viewing pleasure...
1. Blank pull cleaned with alcohol to remove any dust or release agent

2. Deepest areas of the mouth and nose are painted first

3. Basecoat brushed around the detailed areas

4. Remainder of basecoat sponged on to prevent any brushstrokes

5. Dark brown stain added to give depth

6. Low lights are airbrushed in

7. Eyes and teeth are painted and coated with 5-minute epoxy to give permanent gloss

8. Hair added to complete the finishing job

And here is a video of the Cryptkeep himself, John Kassir....

I was always very fond of this piece imperticular though!
I wish this would have been a little more in depth with instructions, because I am in process of doing my own painting and hairing and could use the tips, but still this was overall decent!
Nice work again Lee!
