Halloween 2 - What Did You Think?

Halloween 2 has officially hit the big screen today, and fans are divided. Lets put the bad buzz coming from the web aside, and hear what you thought of Rob Zombie's version in comparison to his past films. Even we here at HorrorBid are a bit divided. I was really satisfied with it while Booman was not so thrilled. Did the film meet your expectations? Did you like that it didn't keep to the traditions of the franchise? What did you think? As a hardcore fan of the halloween series i gotta say i expected alot more from Rob Zomie in H2 i was really disappointed after seeing this movie i thought overall it was good but there were alot of parts to it i thought were head scratching like sheri moon zombie showing up out of no where with a white horse talking to mike i gave it a 8 out of 10 but expected a 10 out of 10.

This movie was amazing in my book, another classic from Rob Zombie, I think that not alot of people will like this movie because it dosen't have the same vibe as the other Halloween movie. But I thought it was one hell of a movie.

Really enjoyed the movie .. BUT. *Spoilers ahead if you haven't seen it.

Not every kill requires 5-10 impacts, whether it was MM's 12 inch bowie knife, foot stomps to the face, whatever. And they totally screwed up Dr Loomis in this one, making him practically a different person than he was in the first one.

BUT .. I did love the cinematography & how Michael's mother & young self were portrayed. Nice ending too .. but I do hope this is the last. If Rob Zombie has proven anything(I do like him), it's that he's best making a movie & NOT following it up(i.e. House Of 1,000 Corpses was great, Devil's Rejects not so much)

To me, personally, this wasnt even a HALLOWEEN movie. This was another film, by Rob Zombie, with just a little bit of Rob Zombie's Halloween & the same characters. Yeah, this movie was good. But it wasnt Halloween 2. That is what disspointed me sooooo much. Halloween is a classic, JOHN CARPENTERS classic. Not Rob Zombie. I loved Rob's 1st one but this one was like playing with fire a little too much, worse than just testing the god damn waters. It was like an experiment on another project collaborated into another Halloween movie. I love Rob Zombie, he is my favorite horror director/writer of the new year. But this movie was not Halloween one bit. Michael Myers grunts when hes killing people, the actualy Halloween theme song wasnt featured once and yeah Sherri Moon Zombie probably got more scenes than Scout Taylor Compton did.

I am just sooo overwhelmed and lost all my anticipation for my love of Halloween films.

Thats all.

So explain to me Jade, what does John Carpenter's "classic" have to do with this movie?

BTW, I thought this movie kicked fuckin ass. I loved it and i'm gonna see it AGAIN.

HMM LET'S SEE.... If Rob wanted to do something with his own creations why didnt he just make his own fucking movie? Obviusoly Carpenter sold the rights long ago, but Zombie needs to write something of his OWN work, not remake something just for the fuck of it.

Its sad to see the film industry be treated like a playground full of naive fucking children, doing what they want.

I mean, I might as well go write remake Jaws, but instead of him being a shark, he could be a fucking lion =)

Did I make my point yet?

I thought the movie was absolutely awesome. The end of it really sent chills up my spine. Yes Rob did his own thing with it but you have to remember...the industry went to him to do this movie...he didn't want too at first. And he wanted to make sure this will be the LAST Halloween he did and I think he did a great job in making sure this was the END. And I agree the Bink...how can you not love this movie???

This movie was horrible. And yes, I am a long time fan. AND I am a fan of Rob's work. This movie was horrible, no suspense, no theme music, horrible repetitive deaths. It wasn't worth admission, not by a long shot.

Much can be said for or against the movie, but after seeing it and reflecting on it. Alot of this movie had to do with all the character's mental state after the first film. I love what he did. Usually movies that make you think aren't popular to public opinion, but i personally liked the film. The ending confused me a bit, but it makes you think. Great horror films always leave you with the feeling of "What if" they also make you think psychologically. Also i know someone commented about how michael myers stabbed everyone like 5-10 times....yeah it was a bit over the top but it made it more realistic. usually if someone gets stabbed once in the movies and suddenly just dies it kinda makes me chuckle a bit. i do have to laugh at the fact that Zombie said that this film wasn't as gory as the first and yet it was probably the goriest of the two films. I agree with most everyone....he should just leave Halloween alone now. He did his thing with the project and now its time for him to do his own projects. Thanks again Rob for making another great film!

Look to all you fans of this movie. I have been a horror fan for 25 of my 29 years Ive been alive. I undestand that rob was trying to do something diffrent and that he wasnt trying to remake the original pt 2. I justy think this movie was god awful, the story made no sense what so ever. All these people saying that anyone that has something negative to say about the movie arent true fans, you can go back to your comunist country. Your probly the same douche bags that love the shitty mask that are put out every year and despise the independent artist that put out good mask. No, the people that are giving the negative reviews are the true Halloween fans, not the dumd asses that jumped on board after the 1st zombie halloween. He did a shitty job and every ( TRUE FAN ) knows it. This wasnt so much a waste of money as it was a waste of my time. So all you so called fans of the movie that havent seen any of the originals can shut up and go back into hibernation until Rob does the devil rejects vs the blob and come out and blow him then.

I thought that Rob Zombie's Halloween two was pretty awesome. A little strange at times but well done. It is nice to see someone take the Michael Myers story and change it into something else. We see a huge change in the characters, and it makes a much darker film. The sheri moon scenes weren't too bad, what i did like if anyone caught was the psychic link between Michael and Laurie. Rob Zombie showed what Michael was really about all along, even in the classics, it was family, everything coming together in a full bloody circle. The kill scenes were sweet, and it felt like i was watching a classic slasher flick if not Michael Myers. Cant' wait to see it again.

ok... as a HUGE fans of the originals you are probably expecting me to bitch and moan about how this movie didn't compare to them.... BUT i fucking loved this movie! if they were to take out all the doctoc loomis shit, and the ending i would've definately put it in a spot with my all time favorites. i mean i know that it dosn't compare to the originals as far a a horror movie goes... but all the fear that it lacked, it made up for in pure brutality! favorite scene by far is the hospital scene jsut because it was like a REMAKE should be, and was like a 10 min glimpse of what the orignal 2nd was. all in all i thought it was pretty sick, to all the people not wanting to see it. DO IT! i am one of those sceptics that believes that classics should not be touched, but i gave it a chance, and can say that it's money well spent. CANT WAIT TIL IT'S ON DVD!!!

I'm a huge horror fan, and a LIFETIME Myers fan. My collection room is %90 Myers... But this movie was crap, pure and simple. Poorly crafted, made for idiots...crap. Any TRUE Horror fan with a lick of sense will understand that, at least horror fans who remember when Horror was actually about suspense and the slow build... and not about trying to fit as much blood and obscenities into one film as humanly possible. The only reason I stuck through to the end was because of my devotion to the franchise... and my hopes that the end would cleanly tie everything together. Needless to say I was denied that and left empty and angry at myself for paying to see it.

It's pretty unfair of some of you to say that you aren't a TRUE Halloween fan if you liked or disliked this movie. I didn't personally care for Zombie's H2 either but you can still like it and be a "true fan". Honestly, just because somebody likes something you don't makes them any less of a fan? No. You can love this movie or hate it and still be a Halloween fan.

I had such high hope for this film. I've been looking forward to it for months. I was awake for over 24 hours from work and school exams afterwards to go to the midnight showing Thursday night. After it was over I just really wasn't feeling it. I chalked it up to no sleep. Then a friend tonight wanted to go so I figured I'd give it another chance. No feeling. The death scenes were a bit excessive. I am all for a creative death scene, but this was getting to the point of being ridiculous in its repetition. Sometimes more isn't better. The white horse/Mommie ghost concept was a bit overdrawn and slowed the movie down a bit. Lots of lifeless characters(What was that ambulance passenger's damage and Miss Slut'N'Furter was beyond annoying. The only parts of the movie that made it for me were Scout, Danielle, and Brad. I understand where Rob was trying to go with this and I'm sure his purest intentions were there, but I think he really missed the mark with this one. And that is so hard for me to say, because I am an enormous fan of his music and his films. I was just really really let down.

(wtf is myers doing there?) and he shows up later wtf? the white horse? come on! those rednecks beat up michael and michael just layed there and let them do it. im seriously not suprized becuase this movie was rushed into production but its robs fault. i can come up with better screenplay than this!

I just got back from the theater.

I feel like I've just been raped....

This movies sucked so bad that I almost got up and walked out several times. The only thing that kept me there was the good ol' buttered popcorn! I can't belive this movie was aloud to be made this way. What the Hell was Malek Akkad thinking? After the first screening of this movie why was it released in theaters? Do they realize they have completely trashed and killed the Halloween franchise? Rob Zombie has raped and murdered all that was ever good about Halloween and Michael Myers. And what the fuck was with Dr. Loomis in this movie?! Are you kidding me?

Good going, Rob. You ruined it for me.

The things that ruined Halloween 2 were 1)Sheri Moon Zombie, Rob Zombie needs to stop putting his anorexic wife in his movies. 2) The hospital being a dream. 3) The horse, 4) The song nights in white satin, 5) The story was weak, 6)Some of the scenes were too long. Here's what I liked 1)Tyler Mane as Michael Myers 2) Chase Wright Vanek as young Michael Myers, 3) the blood, gore, & violence.

listen george,

thats the biggest crock of shit ive ever heard. im a fantatic of the halloween series and i love the originals best ofcourse. but because im a fan of zombies work and understood what he was going for doesnt make me a true halloween fan? fuck you straight to hell you narrow minded piece of shit

youre so worried about the classics? you still have them! he said himself it wasnt a remake of halloween 2 that right there told you shit was gonna be different. it said the only that similar it would have is the hospital chase. granted some parts didnt make sense im not saying zombie made another masterpiece. he clearly didnt. but damn i thought it was good. it was a look into michaels mental state. so how is it that damn confusing? thats what goes through his head. however the white damn horse i dunno...

if i go by your logic, then id have to say since you didnt bother watching zombies interviews or anything clearly staing that this is a different film and not a remake, then youre not a true halloween fan. follow the material and know what it is youre going to watch. good day.

While I wouldn't call it amazing, I didn't think it was that bad. Everyone that has seen the movie will know what I mean when I ask you, What was with the grunting and groaning? I think there are some things that should be left up to viewer speculation. Like Michael's huge beard. I get that the guy probably isn't too concerned with his appearance, but come on. #2 would be the fact that Loomis is made out to be a greedy and insensitive prick. The real Loomis would be trying to track Michael down and make sure he was dead. #3 would be the staple of what made Halloween (1978). The theme music. Not used until the closing credits, this took away from the movie I think. Overall I am just glad that RZ is keeping the series alive. We all know that Michael Myers will never die. It just looks like I'm going to have to take over from here Rob. Your wife doesn't HAVE to be in the movie, dude.

there is so much it about this movie but one word that comes to mind is DISAPOINTING!... i feel rob zombie butchered the legend of michael myers. H2 had nothing to do with halloween series at all! so many events in this movie made no sence.. and what he made the original characters out to be was bullshit.. annie was supposed to die in the first one, llomis was a good guy who wanted to stop myers, he wasnt money hungry, and the ending well that just says it all.. the only way i can see this being a good movie is for the young kids who have never seen the "REAL HALLOWEEN" and know nothing of it

well the beginning started out pretty good. i mean he didnt have to be so brutal. If you've seen the originals you know he only stabs them once and moves on to his next victim. once you got to the middle of the movie i was not impressed at all too much blood and too brutal. I'm a fan of rob zombies and the first remake was pretty good. but remaking the second the way he did was horrible. i would like if he would do another 2nd movie and i just ask that he doesnt make a 3rd remake.

Very disappointing movie. Started out nice, but I found myself bored around the middle of the movie to the end...mainly because the kills were now bein' repeated & unoriginal. Loomis' character was pointless. I was expecting something from the character, but he just walks into the shack & dies. Also, I was expecting Michael to go into the club & start slaughtering away while chasing Lori (he was there while she was), but he decides to go to Lori's house instead? Poorly written script. I felt like I was watching Lord of the Rings with how much walking Michael was doing. RZ was very unoriginal with the whole "mother" idea. Clearly stole the idea from Friday the 13th. As a RZ movie, it was just ok. For a Halloween movie, it was horrible (Don't give me the whole "he wanted to go in a different direction" argument either. Going in a different direction is fine, but it's still carryin' the Halloween characters & name. Like somebody said before, RZ raped the Halloween series. This was clearly about gettin' butts in the seats to earn money. RZ simply used the franchise name to manipulate us into coming to see this film. However, Halloween is much bigger then RZ will ever be so it wont effect it. This will simply be put in the category of a Jason X type movie.).

I have to say that this film needed a second viewing to truely be taken in without the preconceptions that I had the first time around. I got it the second time and I think that those that came in as I did with the anticipation and mindset of wanting to see our own version did not walk out happy. After a second go around I have come to see clearly what I missed the first time. This film is atmosphere, not character driven. It puts you in the brutality of a killing machine that is essence rather than antihero or monster. Leave your expectations at the door and sit back for the ride. It shows the darker nature of all of us that most are just not ready to face.

This movie isn't about John Carpenters Michael Myers, its about the character that was built in Rob's first Halloween movie. Its not meant to pay homage, its not meant to have the same vibe and its not meant to be the same story. It was visionary and while I'm a fan of the originals this is a completley different type of movie and I was deeply disturbed by it. It was fantastic.
