Demand 'Paranormal Activity' in Your City
When did Paramount get so smart? They started by giving the low-budget horror flick Paranormal Activity a release in select cities on Sept. 25th. Now they've created an Eventful page and are asking fans to demand screenings in their cities. The areas with the most fan demands will be first on the list for the next batch of screenings.
Follow up:
A studio listening to fan requests? Well this is a rare treat. One can assume that the markets in the Eventful top ten will be the next future screening locations for Paranormal Activity. Still, Paramount is abandoning the usual market research and focusing on viewer/fan interest. I guess they can make this gamble since Paranormal Activity was made for only $11,000. If this strategy doesn't work it doesn't really matter however proven successful more small films may start to see the dawn of light as far a theatrical releases are concerned.
Too bad they just now got this idea. Trick 'r Treat could have used this. Still, I feel like a pawn in a way. New social and viral marketing strategies often get the fan boys more involved in upcoming projects and we end up help promoting the films - saving the studios tons when it comes to their marketing budget.
Again I ask the question did Paramount just get smart? Right when we finally think they are listening to us when in fact they are using us to save them money. And I use to think Viral was so cool . . . Curse The Man!!!!! (fist waving in air)
Anyways, head over to Paranormal Activity's Eventful page and DEMAND that they show it in your city. CLICK HERE. Also, if you haven't seen the creepy trailer for Paranormal Activity check it out Here.
