'Trick 'r Treat' Sequel In The Works

Can you honestly say you didn't see this coming? It's completely expected however the good news is that Trick 'r Treat is the type of film that warrants a sequel. Michael Dougherty spoke with MTV about what he's got in store for our next Halloween themed film! Now lets just hope we don't have to wait three years to see it after it's made.

Follow up:

So what's the low down? Seems the Trick 'r Treat Director told the Television of Music that he's got a portion of the next film already hammered out. Dougherty apparently has the ending in place which seems to be the most 'crucial' part of the whole film. Sam will once again be a reoccurring figure in this sequel of interwoven stories. Obviously we are going to be getting the same style of movie as we did with the first (which is a great thing in my opinion).

Dougherty said, "The whole idea originally, for me, was to do one if not every Halloween, at least every other Halloween. Because it’s an anthology film, it lends itself to telling another four stories which would intertwine – but I think you could take the film and explore how Halloween was celebrated in different locations, different time periods, and the one consistent character would be Sam, the mascot".

Different Time Periods!!! Now that's an idea right there. Salem Witch trials anybody? How about set in the '50s? This has big potential.

Your thoughts?

This is some pretty badass news, and like you said has alot of awesome possibilities. I would love to see some of the pasts halloween gritty tradition peppered with sam etc. Judging by the first movie, I can see alot of people wanting more, and it will deliver.

My thoughts are this is the greatest news I have heard in a LONG time. Will this get a theatrical release though? I pray it does!

This flies directly in the face of all of the posters out there who keep crying for something original and for the remakes to stop already. I will be okay with sequels so long as they are doted on the way this film obviously was. The reason people are so baffled as to why this film did not receive a theatrical release is that it is so much better, beginning to end, than most of the crap we have had to endure in theaters. A lot of attention and passion have gone into this movie and if that energy can be sustained, then I say bring 'em on.

That is outstanding news! And this series would be amazingly fun, there are just so many options. Different time periods, no recurring characters save for Sam, and the ability to create a series that can be more surprising and dynamic. This movie deserved a wide release and didn't get it, so here's hoping they learned their lesson.
