Paranormal Activity - What Did You Think?

We won, we won! Horror fan's are screaming at the top of their lungs that this is a victory for the good guy. Good old fashioned original horror. They made us "Demand It" in what appears to have been a brilliant marketing scheme, and guess what we did. So now what? Oh right! We go see the movie! I have a feeling this movie is going to strike a nerve or two and it's always important to get your feedback on a project like this so let's hear it, what did ya think?...

Follow up:

The little movie that could, did! It came like a thief in the night and overtook our local cineplexes. In a movie that has been dubbed the "scariest" movie ever for the past 2 years, does it deliver or was it over hyped. The trailer certainly angered myself for showing too much of the film but I'll leave my personal opinion to my review. The shoestring $11,000 budget and the non experienced director are all touching hallmarks of a feel good story but this is horror, we don't just do what everyone thinks we should do. So the question is, was this movie entertaining and did it live up to the "scariest" movie ever title? You tell us and we know you will in colorful fashion. :)

Two thumbs up or one specific finger up? YOU TELL US!

I don't know what people found entertaining about this movie. It's not original, or scary, or suspenseful and it moved so slowly the guy next to me fell asleep. I kept waiting for it to come alive, but that never happened. It was so predictable down to the Ouija board and psychic, who's only a ghost hunter and not a demon hunter. Dumb. Don't be fooled by the well-done marketing for this flick. The trailer is the best part of the movie. Save your money and go rent Trick r Treat if you're looking for a new, fun scary movie.

A fine bit of g-film making. Once you get past the cheesy dialog, dizzying camera work and poky editing, you can sit back with a fresh bag of popcorn and enjoy the ride. I'm a 17 year old girl that loves horror and while its not a bad movie by any means its no where near the "scariest film ever" in my book. We all had a good time but I didn't leave the theater with any feelings that what I just watched might happen to me. And with I cheerily recommend this ditty for (if nothing else) its ballsy ability to get released.

Okay Although this movie may be entertaining , you probably wont get to fully understand it from the crowd trying to emulate the commercial for this movie by screaming , well here is what this film is basically about , a couple at night records their room while they are asleep and check it over to see if their are spooks , that is pretty much it , well here is an equivalent to this movie , go to google.com or youtube.com and search for a 10 minute montage of proof of ghost , watch it 9 times , and that is this movie , isn't really scary , you might jump but you will not be truly scared , but never the less , it is a very entertaining film , it comes around a very appropriate time so you can see this horror flick for Halloween

Possibly the most horrendous movie I have seen to this date. Maybe it was all the hype surrounding it, but this film was an utter disappointment, and has made me, personally, lose all hope in the American film movie producing a smart and scary horror flick. Anyone terrified of bedsheets will get a kick out of this movie. I assume that the 60-odd people who fled the screening early were merely folks who grew tired of the domestic bickering of the protagonists. Not that they missed anything: the end explains nothing, and what, really, is there to explain? Do not be fooled by the hype, flee this film at all costs.

This was a very well made movie, and effective in what it set out to do. The majority of people who say that it wasn't scary, just look at they're ages. They're this new generation of SCREAM fans, that need to see everything and have it all spelled out for them. God forbid if a movie caused you to use your imagination a little bit.

If John Carpenters HalloweN were released today, it would most likely be a total failure, due to it's slow burn. maybe there is something to this "ADD Generation" thing.

Hype backlash will kill Paranormal Activity, listening to the post-movie chatter makes this evident. This really should have been a straight to DVD movie. If you come into it believing the commercials, you will be sorely disappointed. The movie cues the audience with low rumbling noises(even during the daytime), which creates suspense but doesn't go with the premise. The acting is not very good especially with the boyfriend micah. Micah seems not too affected by the by all the strange happenings. The ending could be the worst part of the movie, which comes as no suprise when I found out it was studio "Inspired". all in all I would pass on this one.

Slow and cliche; a few cool effects. Not scary! Some people walked out and not because they were scared. I give it 3 skulls for the effects because I may have enjoyed it more if people in the theater didn't laugh at the movie constantly.

I was quite amazed at this film ,the acting and the minor effects worked very well , only problem was Michao was an idiot ,there always seems to be an idiot in the film, that has no logical thinking . after a certain scene, I`d leave the friggin house . I wouldn't say this movie is scary but its definitly cool.

Mediocre at best. Although their marketing ads seemed effective. Definately not worth paying to see.

I was so excited about this movie, I am a long time lover of anything scary. But I was sadly disappointed. Don't get me wrong, it was ok for the making price of $11,000, but I would rather have waited for this to be released on dvd before spending $30 at the movie for me and my wife to see this. Sure there were parts where my heart raced and I anxiously awaited the part were I "would be scared to the point of walking out of the theatre", it didn't happen. The end was great but not worth the pricey trip to the theatre. Wait for a dark night when you're alone in your house for this one.

I am a horror movie fanatic. I am also 36 years old and not part of the 'new generation' that someone spoke of earlier. And how do they know how old someone is anyway, just sayin...
Now, the movie was by far NOT the scariest movie I have ever seen. The Exorcist, The Original Halloween and The Evil Dead will prob always hold that spot.It was pretty slow in starting out. It had a couple of really intense scenes. The kind that make you think about at night when you are in lying in bed. All in all, if you are a believer in the paranormal this movie will scare you, if not then you will probably end up yelling 'that sucked' at the end of the movie like some guy did where I watched it. Granted the same guy screamed like a girl during one part of it. I give it a 6 out of 10.

Saw it last night, i thought it was really well done. It reminded me when i was a kid and i first saw the exorcist, or the shining, it got me i have to admit, i did have a little trouble sleeping last night just cuz i got cats running everywhere and it kept freakin me out. But an actual horror movie that can get to you is awesome! Especially these days where everyone is sooooooo "Die Hard" they dont want to admit that it was a decent movie, they also wont admit that they are a jaded asshole whos too cool for school. Get over yourselves seriously. And yes I am 31 and have been watching horror since i could walk, i know the differance between good horror and bad horror cinema. Just give credit where credit is due is all im saying. But thats just my opinion i could be wrong

I wouldn't say it lived up to the hype, mainly because I didn't buy into it.
It was a well done movie that played a lot off of atmosphere. We had a well
behaved audience that let the movie play out without making the usual comments.
Overall I enjoyed the movie, I went in with low expectations and I was pleasantly
surprised. If you believe in the paranormal, or like a decent ghost story,
you'll probably enjoy it.

I love horror movies, first and foremost. I am also a complete and utter wimp when it comes to them. I'm the one screaming, jumping, plugging my ears and squeezing my eyes shut under a lapful of pillows. That being said, just because I get "scared" at most horror movies, doesn't mean I can't tell the difference between a good one and a bad one.

Paranormal Activity was fantastic. I took this movie to bed with me. Could not sleep, kept thinking I was hearing things I wasn't. And that's your sign right there isn't it? Everytime I shut my eyes I see that dimly lit bedroom. I cannot shake it.

I can understand easily how people might not like it. If you have no interest or belief (even a little bit) in the paranormal this movie is gonna fall flat for you. There is nothing grotesque about it (like the Exorcist) or particularly eye catching. It gets its screams based completely on the idea that "OMG could this happen to me?"

Enjoy or don't enjoy, but if I were you I'd give it a shot.
10/22/09 @ 13:27
Y'all are certainly not getting me excited to see this. I'll be seeing it for free (my friend is taking me to a free screening), but I'm thinking of passing on it. However, I'm pretty psyched for "The House Of The Devil." It looks like it has the potential of a classic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-zJ5eQsjxw

I loved this movie because it left me thinking about it long after i saw the movie. What would i do in that situation? My bf and i slept with that light on that night! I would never buy it on dvd or anything. Its one of those movies you have to see on the big screen!

This movie was a HUGE disappointment! Crappy acting, crappy dialogue and NOT scary!!!
I was truly hoping to be scared to death. This was worse than the Blair Witch Project.... Don't waste your time. Look at scary ghost videos on youtube instead.

I thought it was absolutely terrifying. I'm the kind of person to get scared really easily though. The end was so so so scary! I was shaking so bad after the movie and I felt sick. Last night I got no sleep at all, I kept thinking I was going to get dragged out of my bed.

This movie is so scary because it's all about how vulnerable you are when you're asleep. I think it's one of the scariest movies I've ever seen. I like that it doesn't have a lot of blood and gore it's just about what you CAN'T see.

Really well done, I liked how it got into it really slowly and then builded up to a terrfying ending that made me scream so loud!

I'm 19 years old... I've seen almost every scary movie made, i gotta say that this movie sucked. It didn't live up to the hype that everybody and their mother put it out to be. and that dude or girl C, the 8th comment from the top. Your retarded. the comment u wrote about the ADD generation. well that must be me, but i know a good movie when i see it, and this movie blows. And as for that guy jim, who commented before c. dude ur an idiot and obviously dont know what a good movie is either. So I along w/ Chris E. and everyother horror movie lover will take our so called crappy remakes and have a good time watching em...

well personally, i thought the movie was ok. the only scary part was the last 10 or 20 minutes. other than that, it was pretty funny. the dialogue wasn't great, but it got the point across. Micah is hilarious, but after a while you get annoyed with his refusal to leave her ass. I don't even remember the chick's name. she was very forgettable. if you want to get scared, just watch the last couple minutes. it's not worth $10.

this movie is dumb, but if you are also dumb...like half the american public, you'll love it. it's good like the simpsons is good now...or the cleveland show is good.
why would you stay in the house?
things the DR says you don't do to a demon:
antagonize it
anger it
try and communicate with it
so they do all these things and i'm supposed to be scared?

who sleeps with the door open? i mean really!

I thought this movie was retarded. The only scary part was when he showed her what he found about the girl who was like crazy and bit her arm off. Lol. Other than that it lost all of my high expectations. Haha.

If you guys haven't read, there are some people think that this was a real documentary and not a fake, they've been debating whether these two people are really dead. Lmao. Some people are complete idiotic lunatics. Haha.

A fun ride, built okay suspense, and a couple of parts did stick with me after I left, I would have liked it a lot more, however, but just like Quarentine the end of the movie is in the freaking trailer! I hate that!

i give it a 1.5
It was 10 times worse then the trailer! My only question is, why did they change the movie from 2007? Just for the ending? that's stupid, it was no better then the one at the film festival.

I was pretty annoyed when I watched the movie. I was heard it was so good and it was supposed to be the scariest movie. Now I the old school horror movies because they were actually scary to me but, the new age scary movies are crap. I stopped watching them after awhile because they were a waste of my time but, when everyone was telling me about this movie I told myself I would give it a shot and, now I am kicking myself because, once again they made a horror movie that was so lame It just makes me want to scream so I’m done with these new movies and I will stick with my old movies. Two old movies that could scare you dawn of the dead (the original not the new crappy one) and evil dead, oh and of course gotta put my freddy on the list.

I thought this movie was fantastic! I was so so scared every night she fell asleep, everytime she got out of her bed i was nearly in tears knowing she had no controll over her actions!

The best part about the movie was that it made you think alot about what this "demon" looked like - personally i pictured a huge gargoyle... and when thinking about a gargoyle dragging you and biting you, its pretty terrifying!

At the star I actually thought it was real footage from watching paranormal documentries in the past, which again scared me!

I couldnt sleep the night i watched it, and i jumped when my mobile phone vibrated for a day later lol!

Overall the best movie i have ever seen, maybe because i love the afterlife and believe it!!!

DONT WATCH IT ALONE!!!
