Should Tobe Hooper Return for 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D'?

Should the father return home once again? It was announced a few weeks back that Twisted Pictures, the company behind Saw, had acquired the film rights to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise from Platinum Dunes. Twisted is planning to create a new 3D film in the series that would be a contemporary reboot, throwing aside the recent two films that Platinum Dunes made and continuing on with a sequel to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 4....

Follow up:

According to Bloody-Disgusting these reports were once true but the idea of Hooper in the directors chair is looking further and further from set in stone. In fact, there are talks of moving the franchise over to Lionsgate. Twisted Pictures have currently been hearing various pitches and nothing has been decided as of yet.

With all the recent talks of 3D taking over the horror world would you want to see the God father of grit back in the directors chair for a 3D version of Leatherface?

Hollywood has the fresh ideas, but as long as people keep going out in droves to see remakes, Hollywood's gonna keep making em. So yeah, bring him back.

What more could you do with LeatherFace that we (as fans of the originals and the remakes) have'nt already seen?

I'M officially numb to remakes, prequels, and 3D.Nothing surprises me any more. The beginning had some good parts but how many pointless rape scenes do we need in horror films.I'd rather see pointless T&A were horny teens get slayed. The Original is still the best.Tobe Hooper has been putting out pure crap films of late.So I hope he can rejuvenate his career and this franchise again.

I loved part 2! Dennis Hopper and Caroline Williams were great. And Chop Top was a creepy character added to the mix. Tobe did a great sequel there. Part 3 was boring and not well planned. Part 4 was just plain horrible. I liked the remake and its prequel a lot as well. The best things Platinum Dunes has produced to date for horror fans. Not sure what more they can do from here though? R. Lee Emery got run over with the car and Leatherface got his arm chopped off.

I'm not opposed to brining him back, but where can the story go would be my question ? They did the sequel and prequel. DAYSFAN79 is right. Leatherface is missing an arm. Unless they start over, where can they go?

I love the original TCM, but it's also the only one worth seeing, bringing Hooper back wouldn't change shit as he made the stupid and pointless sequel... Just let it be.

Don't really mind if Tobe comes back but still hate they are rebooting again! I like the 2 current TCM movies. I will watch it & hope its as good! I just like the look & feel of the new ones. And Leatherface was bad ass!

I would be delighted to see Tobe Hooper return to the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" series. He hasn't directed anything worth mentioning since "Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2" so what better way to redeem himself then returning to the movie that made him a horror movie legend in the first place?

I can't see how it would hurt anything. The franchise has went to hell anyways. I haven't been a fan of Hoopers recent work, but I would rather see him direct this than some MTV hack.
