'The Birds' Remake To Get 'Last House on the Left' Director?
News sources contradicting news sources. In an effort to stay on the pulse of the horror world is never easy especially when trustworthy sites report the so called news and then later decide it wasn't exactly true. That may be the case here. According to Pajiba, Alfred Hitchcock's 'The Birds' staring Naomi Watts has finally gotten the green light but the original director is out of the chair....
Follow up:
Pajiba is saying that Martin Campbell, who was originally attached to direct, is now off of it because he took on another much bigger project known as Green Lantern. But since Universal still wants this to get made, they quickly found a replacement - Greek director Dennis Iliadis, who directed 'The Last House on the Left' remake from last year. Pajiba is also guessing that without Campbell, Watts is no longer involved either.
They also say that the budget will be upwards of $60 million and instead of going the PG-13 route as was originally planned, Iliadis now wants to amp up the horror and make it R-rated. As anyone with common sense knows, Hitchcock's The Birds wasn't about blood and gore, so why go the gore route in a remake? Of course, because it's Hollywood, and that's what sells movies nowadays. Or does it? Either way, it sounds like Iliadis is going to push for an R-rating while continuing to develop this sequel. I'm sure we'll get an official announcement confirming this soon enough, for better or worse.
Is there any hope for this remake? Do we even need this remake? I think we know the answer.

"According to our inside source, The Hollywood Cog, Damian Shannon and Mark Swift — who wrote the reboot and are also penning the sequel — have been instructed to kill off Jason and end the franchise"
I didn't buy it and Brad Fuller said no way, so should we believe these guys on this as well. Only time will tell.
