Sideshow Presents us with 'Vlad the Impaler' Figure

With a movie by the same name in the works Sideshow always one step ahead of the game has issued us it's latest premium format figured titled Vlad the Impaler. As part of its "Live by the Sword" line, this birth of the real Dracula and vampire lore figure is sculpted in stunning 1:4 scale, comes in both standard and exclusive versions with an estimated ship date of 3rd Quarter 2010....

Follow up:

In typical Sideshow fashion, Vlad comes with his own backstory: Vlad Dracula's terrible reign in Wallachia began in 1456, when the Romanian nobleman escaped years of captivity with the Turks to reclaim his father's throne. He gained a sinister reputation for his harsh punishments, treating the offenses of beggars and common trespassers the same as armed military enemies. Soon, he had earned the nickname Vlad the Impaler for his favorite means of execution: suspending victims on sharpened stakes set into the ground, leaving them to die painfully and slowly. His name becoming synonymous with blood and terror, Vlad the Impaler's vicious and unforgiving tactics are said to have been the inspiration for Bram Stoker's legendary vampire Count Dracula.

The approximate product size is 26" H (660.4mm) x 20" W (508mm) x 10" D (254mm). Each piece is individually painted and finished with its own unique quality and detail that is the trademark of a handcrafted Sideshow Collectibles product. The figure is dressed in an incredibly detailed fabric costume, featuring an intricate, hand-sewn coat with fur trim and includes a fabric tabard, wired for posability. The figure comes complete with a switch-out helmeted head featuring a snarling vampyric likeness and adjustable mask. Standing menacingly atop a bed of victims' skulls, mace drawn and intent on exacting his bloody and vicious will, the stunning Vlad the Impaler Premium Format Figure is an outstanding addition to any collection.

In addition to the standard version shown above (click here or any of the above pictures to pre-order yours), there's an exclusive version that includes a unique feature available nowhere else: An art print inspired by the statue. Check out the images from that one below.

Currently the exclusive version is available only via Waitlist (click here or any of the three above images to add your name to the list).">here or any of the three above images to add your name to the list).
