Top Horror Movie Box Office of 2009

What a year for Horror! 2009 is about to close but before that happens we thought we'd tally up the '09 Horror Movie Box Office leaders. No more this movie is better than that movie crap. The numbers are in and your money has spoken. Was Megan Fox's body hot enough to take the number one spot or does it sparkle? We're sticking with domestic totals but feel free to jump over to boxofficemojo.com for worldwide totals.

Follow up:

the top two movies make me want to puke. number one is NOT a horror movie anymore than romeo and juliet and the number two was just fuckin stupid. if this is the way "horror" is going then bring on the remakes. anything is better than this.

please stop reporting on this twilight horseshit, it does not belong. RALPH!!!

Agreed the top two movies are just awful and Twilights not any more horror than Harry Potter. Can you alter this for true horror fans?

Coraline...a cartoon...really?

Regardless it just goes to show how bad a year it really was for our genre.

The list did say "Horror Elements", but to be honest I hate seeing the Top 2 jsut as much as the rest of you. I have to agree with Lee on how fare down the pipes our genre has fallen and to Evilsmellyclown have no fear, it seems the re-makes are coming regardless what any of use have to say about it. Other wise, I think for the time being Im just gonna stick with J-Horror and Troma movies, at least there Im promised no sparkles and at least an attempt at gore. Kicking of 2010 with the Nightmare re-make ... I dont know guys, I just dont see 2010 being that much better, but we will see. O_O

I have to agree with the other comments to classify the twilight saga horror better rethink what horror is! It's just another romanticized teenybopper flok for teens, and personally I was dissapointed in paranormal activty...I just about fell asleep during the movie,it was only the very end that woke me up! So come on guys put horror where the credit is due!
