Kevin Greutert Comments on 'Saw VII' Mess; Desire to Direct 'Paranormal Activity 2'
The battle over director Kevin Greutert of the Saw VI fame got nasty last night (CLICK HERE) when Twisted Pictures and Lionsgate announced that they were not letting Greutert out of his contract to direct Paranormal Activty 2. This has caused an ugly PR mess and has put Greutert in the middle of a dogfight between production companies...
Follow up:
Twisted Pictures and Lionsgate was exercising an option and bringing Saw VI's Kevin Greutert back to the director's chair for Saw VII (thus booting out director David Hackl that was scheduled to direct the film).
It was a slap in the face to Paramount who had recently attached Kevin Greutert to Paranormal Activity 2. Both Twisted and Paramount's sequels were going to vie for box office victory this October 22. The maneuver on Twisted's part is a power play and while we await an official comment from someone at the company, Greutert had this to say on his site.
"I'm in the middle of something really terrible right now, as anyone who has come to this site probably knows. While I fight for justice in this, the important thing is to avoid giving in to hatred and anger, because these emotions are life killers."
"Hopefully we will all arrive at an amicable solution. Thank you to everyone who is working with me on this." said director Kevin Greutert.
"Fight for justice?" Sounds like to us that he'd prefer to stick with Paranormal Activity 2...
This will only get messier we have a feeling as the battle over the Halloween box office heats up. Who are you pulling for in this fight? Or could you honestly care less about either of these movies?
