Early 'Wolfman' Reviews - Do They Matter to You?

Early reviews for THE WOLFMAN are filtering in and before we tell you whether their positive or negative, we will give you the option to not read any further. We understand that some are put off by even knowing which way the pendulum is swinging, trust us we understand. We will officially have our review up tomorrow evening until then we are asking what kind of effect early reviews from film critics have on you personally?...

Follow up:

Ok we are assuming that if you've read this far you don't mind hearing the early news. The reviews that are coming out by reputable critics (you know who you are) are not very good. Ok they stink. Rotten Tomatoes has their meter running at a pungent smelling 29% at present time. The reviews from other credited sites have not been much better, saying that the film just can't seem to find it's identity.

We aren't going to go into depth on what was said. If you want to find out you can check out any reviews that you can find. That's not the question we have. Our question is whether or not they matter? Do early critics matter or do you listen to word of mouth more than Roger Ebert? Obviously we know most people enjoy actually seeing the film first before mustering a decision but doubt does tend to creep into ones mind when nothing but negative remarks are being heard.

Do you try to avoid the reviews? Do you take them with a grain of salt? Or do you listen to what they say and actually not go see the movie because of it? We'd love to hear what your approach usually is.

Bull. Most reviews are really biased against remakes. I'm sure it'll rock

I've never cared about critics opinions on horror movies. Most just don't "get" our beloved genre. For example, almost all (if not all) F13 movies got horrible reviews from the critics. None are oscar worthy masterpieces, but they are very fun to watch.

Critics are the bane of any form of art. No matter how good your movie, or your book, or your painting, there is always some one, somewere who hates it and will give all of there self indulging reason to discredit it .... kinda like me when I go on one of my SAW rants. Im just as guilty. So, the point is not rather you give two shits what Some critic in NY, LA or some random guy on your favorite website has to say, its all about what you think. Wow ... this soap box is really getting tall .... anyone got a ladder ?? O_O

I for one have cared less what the critics have to say about any actor or film!

90%...no I take that back 99% of all films they like I would never see! I base my opinion after a film that I want to see. My decision has never been based on others personal views of a film!

I like horror amongst other film genre. Granted most have never made it to nomination status... with the exception of sigourney weaver in "Aliens" but we go to see these films to escape reality for at least a couple of hours. So I will still see the wolfman, even though I have my reserved opinions on it which will wait until after I see it.

why not just go over to B-D.com and read this stuff. that's where all the stuff that goes up on this front page comes from anyway.

@ Ciron

Though you're a bit correct, you're also way off. Most of BD's "exclusives" these days come from Shock and even then a lot of the features here on Horrorbid are not featured on any other site. My complaint with this site is how the articles are written. I feel they read more like a fan's blog than a serious bit of journalism sometimes. However, as a horror fan I do my bets to check out all of the horror sites I can find for my news. Everyone has differing opinions and it helps me keep an open mind.

what makes this place better than the others is horrorbid doesnt have such a huge ego. may sometimes seem like fan blogs but i would take that any day over the cockiness of sites like bloody. if you dont like it then dont read what they have to say.
