'The Wolfman' - What Did You Think?

The wait is finally over. After endless delays, re-shoots and even one director change, THE WOLFMAN remake has finally been released in theaters. If you already had the chance to see it, we want to know what you thought. Read more and leave a comment.

On RottenTomatoes the film has a 30% fresh rating. And we at HorrorBid gave it a 7/10 for lack of character development and the odd sense that it was viscous Victor Crowley doing the brutal over the top killings rather than a wolf that might stalk it's victims keeping the sense of angst a little higher.

Check back on Sunday to see how THE WOLFMAN performed in theaters. As we break down the box office numbers

My favorite thing about this movie has to be the look of the fully transformed wolfman. Seeing that updated version of my endeared classic creature mauling and slashing it's way through it's path was exhilarating, and always kept a smile on my face. Seriously... I was smiling every time he was on the screen. They kept a lot of classic elements, which I liked as a big fan of the original. Also there was no letting up on the gore in this picture, which in my opinion, is another big plus. The violence was necessary, and really helped showcase the beast's power and ferocity. He was freaking vicious! Anthony Hopkins was phenomenal, as always. The rest of the cast was good as well. An excellent job was done to achieve a good atmosphere for this movie. Elfman's score fit well, as it was not overdone (which I had feared). Really, the only gripes I had were about a few things done in CGI that I felt may not have been necessary (but I tend to almost always feel this way about newer films). Again... go see this movie and if you like werewolves, you should enjoy it.

I thought it was awesome! It was very cool and I liked that the transformed man could run like a wolf but still looked human standing up, I did think Hugo weaving was every so slightly cheesy and the Anthony Hopkins was Anthony Hopkins, but I enjoyed the entire thing, I did have a question *spoiler* about his mothers demise. But it was great, works with the Francis Ford Copola Remakes, Danny elfman really a hint for Wojack Kilar in the violins in the music, but it was great

Well, seeing this film was the highlight of an otherwise bland V-day weekend. I don't have too much to add to what's been said, but Del Toro's wolfman exudes an animalistic power and savagery that I have always thought absent from the original. I like the fact that it was incredibly violent but wish more time had been spent developing the characters. I find that, more often than not when a classic movie like this is remade the characters back story is malnourished. Presumably this is because the creators expect that we are all already familiar with the characters, plot, etc. so they don't perceive any need to really re-introduce us. Aside from a few flashbacks to some of his theater work, we don't get a very concise picture of who Lawrence is prior to the carnage which makes relating to and empathizing with his character impossible and destroys the story arch somewhat. I have to admit that I'm clutching at straws here. I really enjoyed the film and respect the lengths to which everyone has gone to make this as complete of a reimagining as possible. Oh, and long live Rick Baker!

I came into the the theater knowing the bad reviews already so i was expecting a lot worse, but i have to say that i found this film very cheesey, espcially the gore was just mehh. the acting was decent in some parts, i thought the wolfman looked like beast from X-3 so all i could do was laugh at him when he was the wolfman aka beast from x-men. all in all i did not like it ill give it a 5.5/10

I thought it was awesome. I tried to keep an open mind as I entered the sold out theatre after hearing mixed reviews and my own thoughts of how will they really capture this classic. I was surprised. Sets were great and really created ambience to the film, transformation was incredible, thank you Rick Baker, and Benicio Del Toro would have made Lon Chaney proud. I really enjoyed this film, my oppinion!
