'Paranormal Activity 2' Playing Russian Roulette with Directors
Eight months from now on Oct. 22, just before Halloween, 'Paranormal Activity 2' will be going head to head with 'SAW 7' in 3D. Sounds exciting doesn't it? One problem. The director that was supposed to shoot 'Paranormal Activity 2' is busy being forced to direct 'SAW 7' (oh don't forget it's in 3D). So where does that leave us? No director for 'Paranormal Activity 2'. Sound like a mess? That's because it is...

According to the LA Times today the studio is now "seriously considering a trio of more experienced directors. And one of them is a person who'll really get your weird-o-meter spinning: Brian De Palma.
Yes, that Brian De Palma.
The iconic auteur behind "Scarface" and "Dressed to Kill" -- as well as more mainstream films like "The Untouchables"' and "Mission: Impossible" -- would be a strange choice to say the least. No doubt he'll bring art-house credibility and visual flair. But De Palma is known for shoots that don't always go for the lowest common denominator at the multiplex, that aren't always cheap (though his last movie, the Iraq film "Redacted," was a lower-budgeted affair) and a shooting schedule that doesn't scream quick turnaround."
So from a film that was originally shot for around 12 grand by a no name director to the present days three ring circus, a film that has no director but a scheduled world wide release date, we can only leave you with one phrase....
The Blair Witch Project 2!

"Hay lets beat SAW by not only getting a Big Director lets get 3, but who ? hmmmmm any one seen Scarface? Oh yeah I loved that lets get him, and what other movies have you seen lately?"
Yep that’s probably how the conversation went. Does this little conversation I’ve written make since ... nope, and neither does the selection process.
So, what have we learned?
