Fail: Academy Blunders Horror Tribute
Wow, for the first time in years the Academy Awards finally acknowledge that the horror genre still has a pulse. Furthermore, the presenters make the bold claim that many in the show's attendance owe horror for launching their careers in the movie business. We as horror fans should be thankful for the recognition but why aren't we? Read more.

The 82nd Academy Awards paid tribute to the horror genre this evening by presenting a montage of various horror films. However, The Academy showed just how out of touch they are with our genre by having the kryptonite of horror introduce the montage. Yeah, I'm talking about Twilight's Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner. To some, that's like salt to the wounds.
The montage featured a range of horror films including several Universal classic flicks . . . but is it just us or did it seem like the whole tribute centered a little too much on the slasher sub-genre? Not that we don't love slashers but if one were to pay tribute to a genre that spans decades one would think that people as prestigious and knowledgeable about film history as the Academy would have had a more diverse selection.
At the end of it all, big deal right? The (Oscars) Academy has forgotten about horror since The Exorcist and any notice is good notice. I guess it's still nice to be recognized even if they can't pronounce your name right.
