Paramount Remaking 'The Monster Squad'

Coming as no shock to anyone in the office today we learned Paramount Pictures is remaking the 1987 horror film The Monster Squad. Rob Cohen, who produced the original, hopes to direct the remake. Cohen will produce with Platinum Dunes partners Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form, and they’re meeting with writers...

Follow up:

Platinum Dunes loves the remake game as they've produced The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street remakes.

Plot Synopsis: Young kids form a club that is devoted to monsters, but soon get more than they bargained for when Count Dracula adjourns to Earth, accompanied by Frankenstein’s Monster, the Wolfman, the Mummy, and the Gillman. The uglies are in search of a powerful amulet that will grant them power to rule the world. Our heroes – the Monster Squad are the only ones daring to stand in their way.

What say Bidites? We have a feeling we know the answer.

Fuck sake. I think that is all that can be said really. But then again, i don't really know why we get so worked up about this sort of thing, as it doesnt render the original obsolete - if anything, it usually helps it get a re/release (for example, the remake of Fright Night will benefit us by helping get the original out on bluray i am sure). We will always have the original, and I guess the only drawback really, is that some douchebag kids will watch the new one, like it, see the original and mockingly laugh at it - but who fucking cares anyway, if theyr'e douchebags! We have our memories. It doesnt blight them. It just fucks up the ability of sharing them with these future generations.

If this is legit, then at least they ARE distancing themselves from the original movie. Now present day douche bags can have their cake and we can KEEP OURS TOO.
