'Escape from New York' Remake to get 'Crazies' Director
John Carpenter's 'Escape from New Your' is one of those cult classics that created a whole generation of anti-hero loving Snake Plissken fans (played by Kurt Russel). With it's cheesy one liners and post-apostolic setting what was not to love...

UPDATE: No sooner than we posted this story, the studios and The Crazies director Breck Eisner were in talks to direct the Escape remake we hear from our friends at SlashFilms that the deal is done. Breck Eisner has signed on to direct the film. Looks like we have our director.
Variety is reporting that Breck Eisner (director of The Crazies remake) is in talks to direct the remake of the legendary film. The script for the new version is being written by Ken Nolan, David Kajganich and Allan Loeb. The film will not be a shot for shot remake as the script has changed things up a bit in which Plissken, is given 24 hours to find the President following the crash of Air Force One.
No word on who will play Plissken although rumors at one time settled around actor Gerard Butler but nothing was ever confirmed. Stay tuned for more details as we get them.
