Breaking News: 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' Sequel Will Happen in 3D
Ok, we know what your thinking, the dust hasn't even settled on the remake yet and (puke) another 3D announcement. Here us out though. According to Nikki Finke of Deadline Hollywood, Warner Bros. (parent company of distributor New Line) have already green-lit the second installment of the new "Nightmare" trilogy...
Follow up:
We understand the concerns about 3D being including in every upcoming film one can image these days but we personally think it could work if done properly in the "dream" world. With Rooney Mara (Nancy) and Jackie Earle Haley (Freddy Krueger) signed on to complete two more films (thus creating a trilogy) it was know surprise the studio would make good on a sequel. What does come as a surprised is the timing.
With Platinum Dunes recently scoffing at the idea of a "Friday the 13th: Part 2" sequel one has to wonder why the green light was given so fast consider the box office numbers. Even though "Nightmare" performed admiralty based on box office calculations taking in an estimated 32.5 million dollars in it's opening weekend, the "Friday" reboot took in almost 10 million more than that. It is a bit of a head scratcher but according to our sources the "F13" sequel was put on hold due to a "shaky script ordeal" . Could that be the hold up?
Even though "Elm Street" was panned by critics for the most part the horror community seems to be solidly behind it (as much as one can expect from a "remake". No expected date of production has been talked about as this point although we are hearing a script is in hand. Stay tuned for more information as we get it.

I saw Alice in Wonderland in 3D and it was terrible. It actually made the movie look awful which was a shame because it's such a great film to look at.
People are eating this stuff up though and they get to charge us an extra 3 or 4 bucks to watch it and for what? What is it adding to the film experience?
I see a movie because I love the stories,or the action, or the horror! I don't care if someones arm pops out of the screen and more often than not the only result of 3D is a greater sense of depth. Things look layered. Who cares.
I'm now boycotting anything in 3D and thankfully most films release in both versions and if a flick only comes in 3D then I won't be watching it in the theater.
I think I just found my next rant post for the blog!
Im actually excited about the new trilogy but seriously hope it's not in 3-D.
The only movie I hope to see is " 3-D six feet under " because that's where it belongs, but the studios won't listen to people or the fans they have their own agenda.
PD didn't balk at making a sequel. Warner told them not right now. They control the franchise, with a little help from Paramount. ;) However, this was just reported today in regards to the Nightmare and Friday the 13th sequels.

As I hope that a Nightmare sequel is ready to go soon, I don't think that anyone from Warner has greenlit a sequel and no one has mentioned 3D yet? Only within the article that is referenced as the source is this mentioned. I just caution everyone with patience as this is the type of news that came out last year with the Friday series and look where that has gone to this point.
Keep up the good work on here everyone!
I would love to see her and maybe even Alice from The Dream Master. I think a cool story angle would have Nancy put in a insane asylum where she first meets christin or alice..And of couse they share the same thing in common..FREDDY..
