Playstation 3's 'Heavy Rain' Headed to the Big Screen?

One of the most intensely gratifying games of recent years, "Heavy Rain" had a profound impact on gamers and Bidites everywhere (click here to read our review). This was even a game that we thought would be the perfect catalyst for a slasher style video game of say, the "Nightmare on Elm Street" franchise (click here)...

Choosing your fate and playing the game your own way was what made "Heavy Rain" so a popular commodity. Deadline New York reports that Unique Features, the company Bob Shaye and Michael Lynne created after they left New Line Cinema, is close to acquiring the screen rights for the game and hopes the horror community gets behind it as much as they did the video game which currently has sold over a million copies worldwide.

We are always interested to see how Hollywood can take a game and make it into a movie. The problem is it usually doesn't transfer well. We do have hopes for "Heavy Rain" though as it was such a successful game with such a compelling story. It will be interesting to see where the studio goes from here and what actors may be involved.
