"Rob Zombie, who directed the recent "Halloween" remakes, is giving up-and-coming filmmakers the chance to take a stab at their own horror film. He's partnering up with Universal Studios for the "Halloween Horror Nights - Rob Zombie Film Competition."
Luckily for the filmmakers, it's a short-film competition and only has to be 90 seconds to three minutes in length (think Zombie's faux trailer for "Werewolf Women of the S.S." from "Grindhouse"). They must be submitted on DVD by August 14th.
Zombie, members of Universal's Halloween Horror Nights creative team and other horror industry professionals will judge the shorts on the basis of storytelling, originality, and a good scare.
The public will get to vote on the Halloween Horror Nights website from September 3rd thru the 17th for the winning short, which will premiere on Chiller, SyFy.com, and earn the filmmaker $1,000 and a trip to opening night of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood.
Meanwhile, Halloween Horror Nights won't be short on scares when it returns this year to Hollywood and Orlando for its 20th anniversary this September and October."
