Robert Rodriguez Talks 'Predators' Sequel at Comic Con

Now we're talking! With a current worldwide gross of over $80 million, IGN caught up with producer Robert Rodriguez at Comic Con to talk sequel possibilities. Guess what he said Predator fans? His response might surprise you. If you want to know you'll have to read more.

Follow up:

"[The studio] said, 'Let's do some other ones. What other story ideas do you have?'" says Rodriguez to IGN at the San Diego Comic-Con. "Because it was like, let's test out the market with this one. They really wanted it to be pretty contained, pretty scaled-back. They didn't want to put too many of the ideas into it that we could save for a second one. So we could see what the appetite was, because the bigger movie would actually be what comes following that. That kind of sets up a new storyline, new location and world, and then you can really go crazy from there."

Rodriguez says he has "an idea" of what he will do with the sequel. The next step, he says, is probably to have other writers come in and pitch different versions of his basic premise, along with new concepts.

We couldn't be more happy with this news! Predators was generally well received by the fan base, general public and critics alike! Seems the studios are ready to step it up a notch now that they know there is still an interest out there.

IGN's bit about what to call the movie is pretty hilarious. "And what would the next Predators be titled? Predators 2? More Predators? Predators's?"

Very good news! This last Predators is as good as the first one, and I definitely want to see some more!!!
Also liked to see a Brazilian actress in such a good Hollywood movie. The weird thing is that she is not very well known here in Brazil and most people don't even know who she is.

Danny Glover and Arnold Schwarzenegger plus iMax 3D....the survivors, if any, from Aliens vs Predators 1&2 and whoever survives this movie...return to Planet Predator because they are having some sort of Survivors Tourney. Once again thrown into a battle for survival they didn't ask for. But say, Arnold is now a war veteran turned President of the Free World...the good ol' US. So secret space command operations are revealed to be watching the planet after getting a coordinates of a leaving ship in the 1990's and following it back with a radar. Specialized Space Marines are sent to the planet to save the President. Hell breaks loose when they drop down vehicles and weapons...and bomb a lot of the place. Needless to say, this angers The Predators. Perhaps the Space Marines are roided up with some sort of super soldier serum so they are better than human strength but still not Predator...but they can put up a better fight. When the star characters realize the Space Marines are just as animalistic as the Predators...but with less class and honor...they find a way to leave them there when they escape. Predators win and so do the stars...while we still get tons of death scenes and cool action. Just an idea.

I think the next title should be, "Predators Duex" Predator film titles should stay short and sweet. But, with that being said, MOST simple, short titles have already been used.
