THE Last...LAST EXORCISM? Is a Sequel Inevitable?

Forget about the name using the word last in the title. If they can make 4 million FINAL DESTINATION movies they can find away to make a sequel to this. With the Eli Roth produced THE LAST EXORCISM taking #1 at the box office this weekend earning roughly 23 million dollars might a sequel be inevitable?...

Follow up:

There are no sequel talks that we know of at this point so this is purely speculation but the film was made with an estimated budget of only 1.8 million dollars (23 million in ticket sales opening weekend) one has to wonder if we've seen the last of old reverend Cotton Marcus.

We won't spoil the fun if you have yet to make the truck to the theater but we will say this, questions are left unanswered. There are plenty of fill in the blank moments and although a direct sequel may not work we could easily see the same type of film playing off the same storyline.

With profit margins looking as good as they do you can never say never especially in the horror genre were sequels are common place. So we pose the question to you. Would a sequel to this movie work and would you want to see it?

I would like to see a sequel to this movie, I was very disappointed at the ending of this movie! I don't understand how the video documentary was released if the whole camera crew was killed. I think a sequel would answer alot of questions i have toward this moive.

I loved the movie, it was nothing like i expected. Once I realized what the plot was getting to, it changed once more. Very clever and done nicely. I don't think the purpose of the movie was to describe or give you all the answers, you're supposed to leave the theaters wondering what happened and decide for yourself what to believe. Much like what Cotton & Louis had to do. I HOPE there will be a sequel, i can see a few ways it could be introduced, i would just hope that the same small budget & lack of detail in trailer approach is kept. Thanks Eli!

TERRIBLE movie. haven't seen paranormal activity, but im sure this was worse.

I will sincerely say you come up with several outstanding points and I will submit a number of thoughts to add in shortly.

The v-type bikini top is best for the small busts and so are designs that criss-cross your breasts with strings you can tie at the back of your neck. Never opt for strapless bikini tops, they will make your breasts look a lot smaller.

If you were expecting something to mmake you shit your pants like the origonal Excorcist, you will either be let down or disapponted. But the good thing is that it is scary in its own way, it will not turn heads all the way around but it will leave an impact if you sit throughout the whole movie. This movie is very underappreciated and deserves more praise. The ending was a cliffhanger leaving possiblity for a sequal and I would be very pleased to see one done (if done correctly and not oversaturated like SAW). It doesnt live up to all the fear the trailer promises but you get your chills and thrills.Excorcist films in my opinion are the scariest more than anyother kind becuase they deal in themes that are real if you believe they are, if you believe something is real then it is real(in your mind thus in your reality). This film manages to deliever its promise of a good film but you must be a patient person to fully enjoy this film. Without spoling the ending of the film I think it would be very likeyly to create a sequal with the police investigating the strange events happening lately in the towns religious community. I would welcome a sequal as long as it is done properly. Maybe a sequal called "The Last Excorcist" about the last one alive that know the art of excorcisms.

I think a sequel should be made. Setting it several years into the future and Nell is living on her own and perhaps married and away from the small town and everyone she was associated with. In a random box of old things the original letter Nell's dad wrote to the exorcist is discovered and just when Nell thought all of that was behind her, Caleb, her brother contacts her and now she is tormented from memories of her past and she has to figure out how to free herself from her past once and for all even if it involves murder/sacrifice(Also Nell's new husband could be part of the cult which he keeps well hidden from her). Thats just my idea but there are so many ways they could approach a sequel which would answer some questions from the first movie in the same way Paranormal Activity 2 did.
