Will Victor Crowley Haunt the Swamps Again in HATCHET 3?
Adam Green's HATCHET II slammed into theaters dotted all across the country this weekend drenched in all of its unrated bloody goodness. The film seems to be a hit and regardless what the numbers are it appears horror fans turned out for the film. We also have a feeling the DVD/Blu-ray sales will be higher than usual because of the positive word of mouth...
Follow up:
With the second film topping the first one in nearly every way, in our opinion, and the abrupt ending, much like the original, seems we have a recipe for another film. The question fans are begging to have answered is will we see Victor Crowley back in the swamp?
No official word has come out of camp Green this weekend and we don't expect to hear anything official until the numbers come in from the theatrical release. But if we had to put our money on the line we have a sneaking suspicion the horror world hasn't seen the last of old HATCHET face.
Maybe the bigger question to this is how will the film play out and will the series morph into something similar to FRIDAY THE 13th, NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET or HALLOWEEN? Will we see installments in the double digits? Does Crowley have the staying power? Time will tell.
Will the third film pick up where the sequel leaves off? Or will we fast forward say 10 years into the future where an entirely new group of eager wondering "ghost" hunters set out searching for a chance see if the "Crowley legend" is true.
Either way we hope the ride doesn't end here. We have faith in Green's directing capabilities and we look forward to him broadening his film style. But we also want to see horrors hottest upstart director continue the film that made him famous.
