Rob Zombie Breaks His Silence About His Next Horror Project, THE LORDS OF SALEM
We announced a few weeks ago that Rob Zombie's next horror project would not be a remake of THE BLOB or WEREWOLF WOMEN OF THE SS like many thought. The rocker-turned horror director will be teaming up with the production company behind PARANORMAL ACTIVITY and today in a candid interview Zombie tells us why he decided to take on the project...
Follow up:

While talking w to Billboard.com Zombie had this to say, "They {The Paranormal Activity producers] came to me and wanted to work together," Zombie says. "I didn't even have an idea at the time. They were like, 'If you want to make a movie, if you have an idea we will give you complete control over casting, the script, the final cut of the picture -- everything. You never heard that. Nobody hears that. Everything's a battle, but these guys were like, 'That'll be our deal with you.' And I was like, 'Great!' "
"The Lords of Salem" is drawn from an idea Zombie had some years back about witches executed in the 17th and 18th centuries who return to Salem, Mass., in the present day. "I grew up in Massachusetts," Zombie says, "so the Salem witch trials and all that was always very prevalent. Even when I was a little kid, you take a school field trip and go to Salem to the witch museums and watch re-enactments of the witch trials. I always found it fascinating, so I started writing an idea about...this group of five witches that were killed back then and have come back to modern day Salem to seek revenge."
Zombie also goes on to mention he is currently writing the script while touring with the band. The band will also be playing a large role in the film. The director/musician says he wants the band to score the movie. It won't be rock music but an actual score from the band. Music should play a large role he says.
Production is excepted to start in early March or April of 2011. To read the entire interview click here.Stay tuned for more details as we get them.
