Co-Creator of LOST Pens Winning ALIEN Prequel Script - Natalie Portman as Lead?

A bit of breaking news coming out of the /Film camp early today. Damon Lindelof the co-creator of the uber popular LOST tv series has turned in a script for the ALIEN prequel film and 20th Century Fox apparently loves it! You know who else is loving it? Ridley Scott according to sources...

Why is everyone so excited that they have such a good script other than the obvious? Because the production cost for this film was estimated to be around the $150 million dollar mark and Lindelof’s script cuts a chunk of the large action set pieces, eliminating a portion of the cost. Ass to that the fact that the script reportedly has a more PG-13 vibe much like the original 1979 film. Which isn't a terrible thing for an ALIEN film. Not a lot of red blood spewing in the first place.

On top of all this comes word that Natalie Portman has met with director Ridley Scott’s team is very high on the list to play the lead female role of “a female Colonial Marine general.” Stay tuned for more information as the information leaks in.

A PG-13 alien prequel will suck. Look at avp-1 and their PG-13 bull. The first alien is good. Even if they rated it PG-13 it should have been R. I hope if it truly is PG-13 that it is like the first alien. Just because a movie is rated R doesn't make it good either. I have really been looking forward to the alien prequel so I hope Ridley Scott doesn't make a movie like the suck fest Alien 3. He wasn't even the one who made alien 3. I just don't like the news about how a script by the guy who wrote lost saves them money on sets and what not. They should go all out for this movie and not cut corners like a bunch of greedy pretend to be cash strapped Israelites.

If they do PG-13, do it right, like Live Free of Die Hard, and not wrong, like AVP. Here's a suggestion that will never be read by the filmmakers:
Don't show the bloody mess, imply it, instead of lowering the blood to an impossibly low amount for the injury.

Sam, I like the way you think. Seriously. They should listen to your ideas. I like them...except even if the crab alien face hugger claws a face apart and crawls down a persons throat, still keep the tail wrapping around the pitiful neck. The part about the aliens we know molting into something unseen? Genius! We need shit like that. I say get rid of the lost guy and have him write the next Rambo or somthimg. It is your type of vision we need for the Alien franchise. I mean what I say brother.
