In what may come as a bit of a surprise to some, the seventh entry and supposed "Final Chapter" of the SAW series eased its way into #1 at this weekends box office. SAW 3D earned $24.2 million during the three days beginning on Friday and although not a dominate number, was enough to take the "holiday" war...

Last years SAW film only took in $14.1 million the first weekend, being sliced and diced by the blockbuster horror film PARANORMAL ACTIVITY. Last weekends biggest rated-R opening weekend winnerPARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2 came in number 2 taking in $14.1 million putting its total to $65.7 million.

It proved Lionsgate made the right decision moving the film (last weekend) from the original opening night to compete with PA2. Waiting a week was the right call and then some. The question as to whether this is truly the "last" SAW movie will be seen. Until then SAW closes its books going out on top. Game over.
