It's Official! LEATHERFACE 3D - The Reboot of a Remake

The only thing scarier than a reboot of a remake is that same scenario and throwing 3D into the mix. We reported a few days ago (CLICK HERE) that Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures (think SAW franchise) were looking for their next project and brought aboard former JASON GOES TO HELL team Adam Marcus and Debra Sullivan to do the writing...

Today according to our friends at Cinematical it is official. The script is being finalized and will follow the footsteps immediately following the events of the first film 35 years later. So ignore the past sequel films, remakes and prequels and keep the 1974 original. Not a terrible idea you're thinking. Maybe that could work? But then wash away that grin with the 3D aspect. Your heart sinks doesn't it?

Time will tell whats in store for LEATHERFACE 3D. No official production date has been announced. This does look like the next "new" project for the former (supposed to be former) SAW franchise production team. Are they looking to boot a new franchise here with the TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE? Originally we were hearing a trilogy? We're not sure if that still holds true but its something to think about and obviously will weigh heavily on how well LEATHERFACE 3D performs.

So it's going to ignore all of the films except for the first one? That sounds kind of like "Halloween H20: 20 Years Later." I think this movie has lots of potential to be good if done right. I hope they bring back Sally Hardesty (preferably with Marilyn Burns playing her). I don't really like the 3D idea all that much though.

To the 3D comments...people do care about films in 3D. Its such a huge money market, thats why they keep making them. Wouldn't it be absurd if the industry kept doing something that no one liked or cared about?

The best thing you as a fan can do is not support or condone these remakes and not give them any money.

RAY OF THE DEAD is right one....the studios are going to make films that are lucrative to them, why would they make films that they thought wouldn't make them money? lol
And for the legions of horror fans who rail and bitch about remakes and 3-D.......well someone is buying the tickets to see these films, and taking a quick peek on horror forums its easy to see that people are going to see these films in droves. So who is to blame?

I think if handled well, Leatherface is an icon that deserves to live on. 3-D is the new medium of movie going, accept it. Personally, I thought Piranha looked great.

Im serious excited for this. This has serious potential for a great movie. Twisted pictures and lionsgate, thats a great recipe for a wonderful horror movie plus not too mention twisted pictures loves the gore. I love the plot, it's a new aspect on the TCM franchise. As far as the 3D aspect, that shit is really hot right now and it's basically a cash cow. I've never been much on 3D horror movies but that will never stop me from seeing them especially if it's Leatherface, who is definetly one of my favs.

Hey!!!!! If you're a true Leatherface fan, then you don't give a shit if it's in 3D, I mean sure it would be better if it wasn't, but honestly I don't care!! Especially, most theaters give you the choice to watch it in 3D or not.
TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 3D!!!!!! FUCK YEAH!!!!!!!
