ZOMBIELAND 2 Coming Soon - Cameo or no Cameo? That is the Question

Finally some serious movement on ZOMBIELAND 2.In a recent interview with io9, ZOMBIELAND scribe Rhett Reese gave an update on the upcoming sequel to the smash zombie hit, which grossed over $100 million on a $23 million budget. A sequel was immediately announced following the success of the first film but the project has seemed dead in the water over the past few months, until today...

Follow up:

Reese is very optimistic about a script he is working on with writing partner Paul Wernick. The original four (Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin) cast members will continue on their journey across America, but this time around, they will be joined by a some new survivors.

That leaves the big question about a cameo. Bill Murray's spot in the first film help solidify the movie with not just zombie and horror fans but the general audience as well. When asked, Reese stated that it would be impossible to top the Murray's cameo so they won't even try. They instead will be focusing on the 3D aspect of the film and trying to be as creative as possible with the new technology in mind.

"We're making 'Z2' a bigger movie. Everything will happen on a grander scale," said the Reese. "[The original cast] all want to [return]. That said, none of them have seen the script yet. And if they love it or don't love it, that might impact their decision."

Does this mean that we definitely won't see another big cameo? We are leaning to the maybe side. They did a great job of keeping Murray a secret on the first film so why show your hand on a second? If kept secret and done right, brining in another celebrity could work. But Reese is right. Nothing can top the shock and awe of seeing Bill Murray with a vacum stapped to his back GHOSTBUSTING with Woody Harrelson in the first film. That is horror movie history.
