THE THING Prequel Gets Major Setback
What's the setback you ask? How about possibly not getting released this year. Yeah, pretty big isn't it? The prequel to John Carpenter's cult classic horror film THE THING was all set and ready for an April 29th, 2011 release date...

However due to reasons not explained, the team at Universal Studios scrapped the film from their 2011 release schedule. All we are left with is a "to-be-determined" date and a feeling of angst from a project we have been concerned with since the beginning.
This seems like bad news all around unless they are simply worried about the film going head to head with SCREAM 4 that releases a few weekends before in April. Stay tuned for more on this news as we expect to receive at least some inkling of a release date within the coming week.

There is only one actor in the new Thing movie under 30 years old. In fact the average age of the prequel is actually older than the carpenter film. For example Joel Edgerton is five years older than Kurt Russell was in 1982, and both Keith David and T.K. Carter were younger than Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
