Kevin Smith is an odd dude. We think that is safe to say. If your familiar with the writer/director/actor then you know that strange things usually happen when he's involved. Usually you either get a terrific product or you get the "crash and burn" effect. RED STATE is hopefully going under the first category..

Smith has already been very vocal about the film. He said he planned on auctioning off the rights to the film to the highest bidder after the 2011 Sundance film festival. Then just a few days ago, we got the 2011 Sundace film festival film list and RED STATE wasn't there. Cause for concern? Maybe but it was announced today that it will indeed by shown at the festival. The auction is still going on as planned as well. At least that is our understanding.

RED STATE focuses on a group of troublemakers who encounter fundamentalism gone to the extreme in Middle America. It stars John Goodman (yes, we like having Goodman back in horror), Melissa Leo, Michael Angarano, and Kyle Gallner.
