Exclusive: HALLOWEEN 3D Will Not Begin Production in 2011; What About 2012?

The much talked about "threequel" or third film that was due to take place following the events of Rob Zombie's HALLOWEEN sequel is officially "deep in production" according to a source at Deminsion Films and will definitly not see the light of day in 2011...

Follow up:

Both Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer were signed on shortly after Rob Zombie's HALLOWEEN 2 (H2) released in 2009 to pen the script for the third installment when production came to a halt. Since that time rumors of the film have swirled from the film being officially "dead in the water" to production starting this this year. Sadly for those of you looking forward to a third film it is bad news.

According to a representative of the Weinstein Brothers, the duo have officially put HALLOWEEN plans of any kind on the shelf the year of 2011. With a focus on starting production for the new remake of Clive Barker's HELLRAISER, the tandem just can't seem to agree on the new direction of the series. Would they follow Rob Zombie's events or go with a more traditional HALLOWEEN type of sequel.

No announcement on a date has been given however we were told that it would be reevaluated for 2012. Is Michael Myers officially gone for good? It'll be interesting to hear what you have to say.

I know one thing, you can't control evil. You can lock it up, burn it, and bury it, and pray that it dies, but it never will. It just... rests awhile. You can lock your doors, and say your prayers, but the evil is out there... waiting. And maybe, just maybe... it's closer than you think!

The beatles are an amazing band. My friends and I love them so much. I tried to tell everyone that chapman (who shot lennon) should be locked up with Charles Manson for a death match. Anyways, we need a H3.

Gone for good? This can't be true, because Wes is right: You can't kill evil. Michael will come back, so I"m not worried!!

Bring Michael back but combine Zombie's and Carpenter's Halloween styles together, that would be beast.

maybe if Zombie didnt screw the pooch so bad that H2 abomination, continuing the franchise wouldnt be such a difficult thing to do.

@Wes Great H6 quote there, I love it! As for H3 I haven't read Todd Farmer's script but from the outline he gave in his blog, it seems like a good idea. Hopefully in 2012!

Well the story about the Starz/Weinstein merger thing says there is an option included for future Halloween films, so I do not think it is dead, plus there is still a ton of money to be made off this series, so they prob just want to wait till they can give it the proper attention it needs. By the way, my vote is to go the traditional route with the story since Robs sucked ass!! Yes I said it. Don't show his D*MN face in the movie idiots! That was why he was scary! He is supposed to be a faceless, emotionless (another problem with Robs version), killing machine. However I did like the fact that he was a huge hulk of a monster.

If and when they do bring it back It should come back the traditional way in terms of 1-6 The last decade or so besides RZH1 has been horrible (H20, Resurrection, RZH2) I miss the original series. I'm not at all saying bring that story line back but just the chemistry would be great It would be nice to see some suspense in a halloween film again

Remember what happened after Halloween III - Season of the Witch came out in '82. They waited a few years and then released Halloween 4 - The Return of Michael Myers which became one of the most successful movies in the series!

I somehow got caught up more with the Hellraiser remake snippet in this article. Such a bad idea. Terrible.

I'd be very upset if they don't do a Halloween 3D. I was really looking forward to this title. Someone other then Lame Rob Zombie directing a movie about Ghosts and Horses... I thought I was going to see a Halloween film? Anyway... Halloween 3D needs to go back to it roots (80s style) and make a slasher that fans will love and see over and over!!! It would be awesome to see Michael in 3D. I'm shore other films like Friday 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street would follow the trend as well.

Well, with Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 abombination, I'm not surprised that this franchise is having difficulty continuing. I liked Rob's Remake. It was in no way better than the Original, but it was decent. I expected Halloween 2 to come out the same way but no. Rob screwed up BIG tme. And to think that people actually liked that movie....makes my stomach turn. Anyway, I wouldn't say Michael is gone for good. He may be gone for now and possibly for a while, but somebody will pick up the franchise again. They need to start over from scratch. Go back to basics. Even though Rob won't be doing a third movie, he screwed it up way too much for someone to continue on from his series, if you would even call it that since he only did 2 movies. I think they should just do a stand-alone Halloween movie and possibly start a whole new series. I don't want to see a sequel to Rob's movies and I don't think I want to see another Remake. A ton of people can try to remake Halloween but no nobody will ever be able to match Carpenter's movie. Maybe make a sequel to H20 and completely ignore Resurrection? Who knows what will happen.

It seems like all these Remakes are having planned sequels being in jeopardy. Maybe Hollywood is finally starting to see that the Remakes just aren't cutting it.

So this is a total re-make and doesn't have anything to do with that talentless douche-bag Rob Zombie and his shitty Halloween re-makes, right!?
Well that IS good news.

Moustapha Akkad asked the late, great Donald Pleasance how many Halloween films he should make, Donald said 22. I seriously doubt they will ever bringing back Michael because there is way too much money to be made. And i think Rob Zombie, as much as i like his style has messed up the Michael Meyers look so to speak, and the style of Halloween we're so used to and love. It's too good of a franchise to be put under the rug. It might be on hold temporarily, but that's all. Besides...Michael always comes home...
