Stephen King's New Time Travel Novel Titled 11/22/63

So you say it’s been a while since you’ve sat down with a good book that will take about a third of your life to read, Stephen King to the rescue! We’re here to tell you on 3/2/11 that 11/22/63 will be released on 11/8/11!! We WILL actually need roads where we’re going, and probably rabbit ear antenna, on this 1,000 page epic time travel Stephen King novel. Actually titled “11/22/63”, King’s latest endeavor will find a high school teacher traveling back in time in an attempt to stop the Kennedy assassination!...

Follow up:

Stephen King’s official website has delivered the synopsis;

“On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died and the world changed. If you had the chance to change history, would you? Would the consequences be worth it? Jake Epping is a 35-year-old high school English teacher in Lisbon Falls, Maine, who makes extra money teaching adults in the GED program. He receives an essay from one of his students—a gruesome, harrowing first-person story about the night 50 years ago when Harry Dunning’s father came home and killed his mother, his sister and his brother with a hammer. Harry escaped with a smashed leg, as evidenced by his crooked walk.

Not much later, Jake’s friend Al, who runs the local diner, divulges a secret: his storeroom is a portal to 1958. He enlists Jake on an insane—and insanely possible—mission to try to prevent the Kennedy assassination. So begins Jake’s new life as George Amberson and his new world of Elvis and JFK, of big American cars and sock hops, of a troubled loner named Lee Harvey Oswald and a beautiful high school librarian named Sadie Dunhill, who becomes the love of Jake’s life—a life that transgresses all the normal rules of time.”

No word on whether or not 11/22/1963 will be adapted for the screen, be it large or small, but come on…….you know it will and we’ll give you all the news when it does!

"his storeroom is a portal to 1958". Yeah, that's King alright: no technical explanation for the weird stuff happening, it's just happening. Still, I'm curious about whether the story works under the Novikov self-consistency principle (see Wikipedia), or does it allow multiple independent timelines, or does it have that weird muddled mix which leads to paradoxes and spontaneously changing photos from the future like most time travel stories that aren't well-thought-out...
