UPDATE: RumorBid: CHILD'S PLAY Remake Finally Gets The OK?
Notice that little word "RumorBid" tacked onto the title of this article? That is there for a reason. We will start posting various insider rumors that we receive from time to time but we want to make it very clear that these are indeed rumors we are getting and nothing more. Often times we will get information and sit on it until it can be 100% verified, the unfortunate part of that method is fans often times miss out on some of the gossip that goes on behind the scenes....

UPDATE: 3/28/11 - According to our MGM sources no production date has been set for the CHILD'S PLAY remake as the company focus on THE HOBBIT, the new BOND film and HAZELN AND GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS. While the film is still a possibility it would appear that prior reports were nothing more than what we speculated, rumors. Both good news and bad news depending on your stance about the reboot of the franchise.
According to multiple reports the remake of the original CHILD'S PLAY (which has been rumored since 2007) is finally going to happen. Writer Don Mancini, who has written all of the previews "Chucky" films has already penned the script. The hold up was due to MGM (owner of the original film) and Universal Pictures (owner of the sequels) not being able to hash out a deal on who would own the rights to the remake. That apparently has been hashed out because we are hearing that the film, who will star the legendary Brad Dourif as voice the doll, will begin production sometime later this year with MGM being in the driver seat.
The film will be titled CHILD'S PLAY and although many have speculated that it will indeed be a remake it is being talked about more as a reboot of the franchise. This will not be a shot for shot remake of the original film according to Don Mancini. This will however be a darker and more sinister film. Don't' expect Tiffany and Glen or that over the top comedic nature to be present in this film. Stay tuned as again this is still a rumor but one with a very solid foundation.

"But dying is such a bitch."

Lol, my favorite is Child's Play 2, I just really love the factory scene where he rips his arm off, and starts dragging himself towards his target LOL.
Although, I wish they would air the original ones on television again, or at least more often. >:)
