The early domestic box office estimates are in and Universal's blast from the past THE WOLFMAN had a reputable placing. Coming in #3 THE WOLFMAN had a tough task going against the star packed romantic comedy Valentine's Day (which ironically open on Valentine's day Duh!). It's neck and neck with Percy Jackson & The Olympians and could make the #2 spot once the weekend actuals come in...

"Terrible things Lawrence, you've done terrible things". said in a voice that only Sir Anthony Hopkins could mutter. Even with an all star cast this is a movie that can't seem to put all the puzzle together. THE WOLFMAN was at the best visually striking, however due to poor writing by two fairly good writers, David Self(Road to Perdition) and Andrew Kevin Walker(Se7en), it falls flat. Due in large part to me not caring about anyone or what happens to them...

Good or bad the film world is changing and has been since the advent of computer generated graphics (aka CGI). Films like Universal's THE WOLFMAN take full advantage of both old school and new techniques. Combining the tried and true techniques and enhancing them with today's technology can not only work but can pull off a sense of wonderment on screen that will often leave us "the audience" with our mouth hanging wide open in disbelief...

We cannot say enough how important the use of music is in films. Since the silent era, movies have always been accompanied by the siren medium of music. Scores are in many ways a character unto themselves that guide the viewer's interpretation subconsciously. Coming from the dark side of film we horror nuts know how key music can be so read more and listen to a sample of The Wolfman score.
