Image Comics Reveals The Cover Artwork For Issue #100 of THE WALKING DEAD

New postby Brian Massey » Thu Apr 12, 2012 9:31 pm

It's hard to believe that almost 10 years ago Robert Kirkman teamed with artists Tony Moore (issues 1-6) and Charlie Adlard (7-present) to create one of the most successful comics of all-time. Not only has the series spawned a popular television series on AMC which received 9 million viewers on its season 2 finale , but an action figure line has recently been released from McFarlane Toys, and a video game is also currently in the works with a fall release date set.

On July 11, 2012, Skybound/Image will be releasing the 100th issue of the comic, which is a remarkable milestone that few black-and-white comics rarely see. The cover which can be seen below, features a pile of corpses, including every prominent character who's died in the series, from the evil Governor to Lori, wife of cop Rick Grimes.

According to creator Robert Kirkman, issue 100 falls right in the "dead center" of what he calls the "craziest" story arc so far in the comic series, a bloody affair that finds Rick and his group of survivors thriving in a (seemingly) safe community, much like they did at the prison — a place of refuge that was hinted at during the second season finale of the Walking Dead TV series.
