Production wrapped on JJ Abrams' upcoming sequel to the "Star Trek" reboot a couple of days ago & there have been rumors/news abound. Ain't it Cool News, Firstshowing.net, & Trekmovie.com have all been pretty much reporting the same things. As for whether or not they will come to pass is anyone's guess, but here's what's out there so far.
1. Klingons could be in the sequel. The most notorious adversary of the original crew was to be featured in the 2009 film, but scenes containing them were ultimately cut. They are, however, available on the Blu-Ray release.
2. Leonard Nimoy could be returning to play Spock of the "Prime" (original) reality. Despite saying he passed the torch in the 2009 film, Nimoy revealed on his Twitter that he, Abrams, & Zachary Quinto had been talking.
3. The villain role of Benedict Cumberbatch may in fact be Khan. Yet, the movie will not be a remake of original series episode "Space Seed". The commentary of the 2009 film revealed that a planned post-credits scene featuring the SS Botany Bay was considered but not used.
The 2009 movie took a while to grow on me. After reading all of this, I'm VERY curious to see how it plays out. Thoughts?
