I remember vaguely, as a child, watching The Lawnmower Man, my parents thinking this a correct adaption of the Stephen King short story, me thinking, "wow, those graphics are bad ass." Yea, so I just watched it after literally twenty years have passed and I have to say, boy movies change when they aren't enduring. Though, I have a deeper understanding of the technological mojo going on, I don't understand how you can have less than two minutes of material from the source of your adaption and call it an adaption. There are so many things wrong with this film that I want to point out what is right:
First, it has Geoffrey Lewis. Good call casting director, good call.
Second, The scene which is actually adapted from Stephen King's short is well executed and is a stand alone reason for viewing. In this scene, a lawnmower chases a man into a corner, chopping up most of the furniture, and finally, the man gets his end as he turns around in his backyard. When one cop asks the other where the rest of the man's body is, he says, "in the bird bath." Ha. I laughed out loud.
Third,
Fourth, Pierce Brosnan shows his true colors when he tries to convey the action of the lawnmower man telekinetically forcing his hand upon his face.
Fifth, gyroscopes.
