Cronenberg Confirms:A Script For The Fly Sequel Is Written,The Ball Is Now In Fox's Court

Some big news to report, which comes to us from Shock To You Drop and their sister affiliate Coming Soon, who recently caught up with David Cronenberg during the New York Film Festival premiere of his latest film A Dangerous Method.

According to Shock, the filmmaker has finished writing the "sequel" to the Fly. Originally it was rumored that Cronenberg was going to be working on another reboot of The Fly for 20th Century Fox, which seemed odd - mainly because he already turned in a successful remake of the sci-fi classic back in 1986.

"The Fly is not exactly a remake," the filmmaker told Shock, "it's sort of a sequel, kinda. Yeah, that was a thing. I've written a script of that, and I don't know if that's going to really happen, but that has to do with Fox."

So, everything certainly leads us to believe that this project is now entirely up to the studios. Let's keep our fingers crossed that they opt to make it!

Exciting news, so this will the sequel to Cronenberg's The Fly and ignore the original sequel or will it be a part three, any links would be an enormous help... But it's great to see one of the true masters of the genre back in the saddle...

From what we can gather it's going to be a sequel of sorts to the 1986 version that Cronenberg did.
