Sneider wrote via his Twitter account, "Again, in case you missed it, LILY COLLINS is OUT of THE EVIL DEAD reboot due to a scheduling issue. Agents, start your engines…"
Currently there is no information on who would be Collins' replacement or whether or not this will affect the start date of the movie which was set to begin filming this year in New Zealand. It was rumored earlier that her role would have be a female equivalent of Ash, but at the time of this writing it has yet to be confirmed.
Fede Alvarez, who will be directing the remake, originally wrote the script for the remake along with Rodo Sayagues. Diablo Cody has since been hired to "fine tune" the script. Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, and Bruce Campbell are producing. A tentative release date has been set for April 12th, 2013.
In the film, “Five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin where they discover a Book Of The Dead and unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.”
