Oh No! The 'Evil Dead' Remake Loses It's Star!

New postby Brian Massey » Tue Jan 24, 2012 6:00 pm

We've got some big news to report on concerning the remake of The Evil Dead. According to Jeff Sneider at Variety, Lily Collins, who was set to play the lead role in the film, had to bow out of the upcoming remake due to "scheduling conflicts."

Sneider wrote via his Twitter account, "Again, in case you missed it, LILY COLLINS is OUT of THE EVIL DEAD reboot due to a scheduling issue. Agents, start your engines…"

Currently there is no information on who would be Collins' replacement or whether or not this will affect the start date of the movie which was set to begin filming this year in New Zealand. It was rumored earlier that her role would have be a female equivalent of Ash, but at the time of this writing it has yet to be confirmed.

Fede Alvarez, who will be directing the remake, originally wrote the script for the remake along with Rodo Sayagues. Diablo Cody has since been hired to "fine tune" the script. Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, and Bruce Campbell are producing. A tentative release date has been set for April 12th, 2013.

In the film, “Five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin where they discover a Book Of The Dead and unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.

I dont know if this is good or bad for the film, but the big question is who will be replacing her? I'd like to see maybe Danielle Panabaker, Katrina Bowden.

I feel the lead character should be a guy, definitely not Ash, but a guy. The whole female lead/survivor girl thing, has gotten so old and predictable that its just......fucking lame and repetitive. It's been done a million times. I don't wanna see some chick who gets chased around through half the movie, then gets all strong and "badass" in the last half hour. I can almost guarantee that's how this movie will be. I really doubt they would focus on a guy, with flaws, and weaknesses. This is going to be a Hollywood movie, make no doubt. I have no faith in it, and may god have mercy on our souls. (If this turned out to be an indie feature, I might have some faith in it, but its not.) And yes, I am biased towards remakes, but why not?

Jeeze, fine.
I'LL be in the freakin' movie.

Seriously, if one of them wants to contact me, they can. My email is on my profile.
I'm sure I could pull off the role more convincingly than some dime-a-dozen teenybopper.
