HALLOWEEN 3D Not Coming Out In October This Year - Michael Myers DEAD?

While the months and months seem to pass us by here at HorrorBid, a majority of the fans and even us here at the 'Bid are starting to feel less and less confident that the supposed "set release" date for HALLOWEEN 3D by Dimension Films (which was supposed to take pace on October, 26th, 2102) will take place.

As I'm sure many of you know by now, Todd Farmer (Jason X) had initially turned in a script to the Weinstein Brothers which was later on rejected for some undisclosed reason, only to then be asked to re-write yet another draft. Patrick Lussier (MY BLOODY VALENTINE), who's name has also been attached to the project, was set to direct the third installment of the "re-imagined" franchise, but since we have heard literally nothing about a script approval or any casting developments, one has to think this project simply isn't going to happen...at least not this year.

With that being said, we beg the question that seems to be running through every fanboys mind, will we see a HALLOWEEN 3D or will Dimension Films simply let Michael Myers ride off into the sunset where Rob Zombie left off? After all, in HALLOWEEN 2 Michael Myers is all but dead. Does this mean that he can't come back? Obviously, 8 sequels from the past would assure you that it can happen but as the days grow longer and word about the film grows less, one has to wonder if we have indeed seen the last of "the Boogeyman".

Do you think we need another installment of the "HALLOWEEN" franchise or is Micahel Myers better off left for dead? We want to hear your thoughts!

Man, I really hope not. If the series was to end I would at least like it to end on a high note than on the sequel RZ crapped out. :powerofchrist:

I know Akkad will not let Myers rest as long as their is a chance to make money from the character. I hope they wait for the right script, even if it means waiting another year.... :slasher:

I personally hated the Rob Zombie Halloween films. I know they have their fans and I respect everyone's right to like what they want, but to me these two cinematic abortions sucked every bit of suspense and originality out of a film that spawned a thousand copycats. If this is the franchise that is being laid to rest, then I am fine with that. Maybe in a few years someone else will come along and try to revive either the original franchise, or even start new and reboot it again. Either way, if I've learned anything by being a huge fan of Carpenter's Halloween it's that you can't kill the boogeyman.

I have been waiting for you guys to cover this for so long. I agree that there is no way the movie will come out this year but I can't count out Mikey just yet, there is too much money to be made. I say we will see another HalloweeN but it will be awhile before they go back to the well. I think Todd Farmer is the wrong choice to write the script just based on his passed movies alone.

Great topic BooMan, I have to agree that I don't think it's coming out this year but we haven't seen the last of Myers. No way! Too much money to be made like others have said.
