Deadline is reporting that MGM is starting to pick up the pace on its Robocop reboot from Brazilian director Jose Padilha as another actor has been cast in the film.
Abbie Cornish (pictured above) has been offered the female lead to which The Killing's Joel Kinnaman has been set to play the title character, a cop who, near death, is turned into an indestructible crime-fighting force, and then begins to remember his past life. The Australian actress, upon acceptance, will assume the role of his wife, who thinks she is a widow. Samuel L. Jackson, who recently signed on will will play Pat Novak, a charismatic media mogul and a powerful force in the RoboCop world. And veteran actor Gary Oldman will tackle the role of RoboCop's scientist-creator.
