WWE Star Edge Retires: For Real! No Storyline Here...

New postby BooMan » Tue Apr 12, 2011 3:48 pm

- The annoucement was made on last night’s Raw that Edge was retiring from WWE. As of now this is 100% legitimate and not a storyline. He has been discussing retirement in various interviews for at least a year.

In an interview with Citizen-Times.com in June of last year, Edge noted:

“I’m coming up on my 20th year, and I’ve definitely had some injuries that have shortened my career. That’s part of the reason I bought up here — we want to retire and listen to the wind in the trees, and we want to do it fairly soon. I may have two more years. With each injury, it’s harder and harder to come back.”

There was no sign that he’d be leaving this early, but he really has been losing the feeling in his arms and doctors have warned that his neck problems are likely to get worse.

The WWE.com article reads:

The Rated-R Superstar had been suffering numbness and uncontrollable trembling in his arms and hands. This is not the first time Edge has experienced these symptoms of nueropraxia. An MRI in Atlanta last Monday was sent to Dr. Joseph Maroon, a renowned neurosurgeon and professor of neurosurgery at The Pittsburgh School of Medicine. After careful examination of the MRI, it was determined that Edge would never be cleared to compete again, and thus, he is forced to retire.

In 2003, Edge underwent a two level spinal fusion of the discs between his C5, C6 and C7 vertebrae. After being cleared to compete, The Rated-R Superstar returned to the ring, resulting in stenosis of the spine, or a narrowing of the spinal column, above and below the fused discs. This narrowing resulted in less and less of the vital fluid needed to protect the spinal cord. Medical professionals cannot clear Edge to compete ever again in WWE since doing so could result in paralysis or even death.

Stars have already taken to Twitter to address the news.

Christian: “I’ve shed my tears..And from here on out I choose 2celebrate 1 of the greatest careers in WWE history..Cant wait2 induct u in the HOF #Edge”

Natalya: “My thoughts are with Edge, and thank you so much for the wonderful memories. You’re a real, true friend and ill never forget it.”

There will be some kind of handing over of the title on this week’s Smackdown.

Yes, that is sad full news for the lovers of the Edge. Edge is one of the leading super stars and wrestler in the WWE. There are many fans of the Edge in the world. Many people like his style "SPEAR". I also like the EDGE and his style.
