Home Theater Project

New postby sirbrad » Thu Jan 19, 2012 12:25 am

OK this has been a long time coming. I decided to finally get my home theater project done, which I have always wanted to do for many years but wanted to wait until technology got more advanced and I had the funds. Also my Mom helped out for Christmas as this is not exactly cheap lol. Since I have a TON of movies to watch and I pretty much watch movies as a hobby and job for costume referencing, I decided I needed to make a DRASTIC change from my little Sanyo (21 inch diagonally) I can't wait to finally be able to watch 3D movies with surround sound and feel as though I am in a theater but with a MUCH better picture. Should be great for gaming too. I currently use my 32 inch LCD on my PC for that and DVDS. Stay tuned for more to come...

Old TV which I had for several years now.

Testing the cable watching a plane fight in the sky. I can watch this from the next room and still see every detail. 2D to 3D conversion works pretty good for TV also, should be even better for movies, especially 3D ones! Still alot of set up and tweaking to do.

Should be even better once I get the home theater and speakers hooked up. There are are tons settings ad True motion etc which is supposed to help with fast movements etc, but most turn it off. Also it uses passive 3D with lighter glasses and no batteries and it works pretty great even with the 2D to 3D TV conversion. So actual 3D movies should be even better. Stuff pops out of the screen even with just cable! It will be a few weeks before I get it all dialed in. It is even bigger in person than the pics show lol. It looks best about 9-15 feet away because it so huge, takes getting used to when you are used to much smaller TV's. But when I saw the plane fight in another room I was in awe of how great it looked, and I did not even set it up fully yet. I can't wait to watch Blu-rays with surround sound. I might even do some gaming with it on the PC, and I though my 32 inch LCD was huge for gaming lol.

Bought a bunch of Blu-ray DVDS/sets I have wanted for a long time now to use with my new Home Theater. These are just a few, and I am glad to be able to finally buy all Blue-ray now for the better quality and special features.

Just tested the Blu-ray bundled player with a Blu-ray DVD (Batman Begins) and WOW it is amazing!!! This DVD is a great test DVD for colors and blacks and looks AMAZING! Crisp and clear even on the default settings! Can't wait to tweak it all and get my HT hooked up, so far so great!! Feels just like I am at the theater with the lights out, only better quality. Movie night just got a WHOLE LOT better! :) Some pics with flash so the screen does not wash out as much.
